Cowboy Bebop: Illustrations ~The Wind~

This is a high quality paperback book. It measures 9"(23cm) x 11 3/4"(30cm) x 1/2"(15mm) with 144 pages. I have rarely seen a paperback with a dust jacket before. It is printed on heavy glossy paper. Most pictures are color. The ones that aren't color never had any - pencil sketches and the like. It has sketches from when they were developing the characters (Originally Ed was a boy.) Most pages have comments from the artist with English translations. Most pictures are not just lifted from the show. There are many pictures I have never seen online. Two things I don't like are that sometimes the commentary is in the corners of the pictures and that some pictures span two pages. While these pictures look good that big, you have the spine of the book in the middle.

Of course, this book is only going to appeal to serious fans of the show, especially at this price. If you are such a fan you won't regret this purchase.

gathering a little more steam than volume 18, this trade volume of the Walking Dead ramps up the power struggle between Rick and Negan. It's full of intense moments and closer looks at characters that were glossed over before. In my opinion the War storyline is probably the best in the book's run so far.

Kirkman Continues To Keep Things Interesting

Over a 100 issues in the series, Kirkman continues to keep things interesting and readers on their toes. The title of this volume is very fitting, March To War. I will not give much away as the joy of reading Walking Dead for me is anticipating what comes next.

The first half of the volume primarily focuses on Rick and his people along with those from the Hilltop and the Kingdom coming together as they plan and prepare for war against Negan and the Saviors. A much needed back story for Ezekiel is provided during this part. Kirkman assures things never stay calm for long though. The second half of the book is an exciting page burner climaxing with a confrontation between Negan and Rick. Predictable in parts but still a joy to read. Considering how Volume 19 ends, the next volume promises to be all out war.

It wasn't the best volume but still a pleasurable way to spend an hour. Walking Dead continues to be one of the best comic series. I recommend this volume for any Walking Dead comic fan and can't wait to see what comes next in Volume 20.

Storyline on the decline

The art is fantastic as always. The story is getting bad, though. Volume 18 was silly enough with the psychotic, potty-mouthed surfer-talking lunatic dropping f-bombs every other word (which really gets annoying when reading). Now we have a guy worshiped as a king who apparently rules his "kingdom" with a wild animal as a pet by his side. I'm not sure why, but I thought of Cherry 2000 with the continually-extending absurdity of the post-apocalypse world one-upping itself over and over. In short, so long "graphic novel", hello "comic". Big turnoff to me. If you're reading this, you've invested a lot of time following Rick and company over the years. That means you're pretty much committed to continue reading into the future, but you should know the story jumps the shark in this volume.

This volume drags on with a build-up to "the war". There are some interesting parts that I honestly enjoyed, but the overall story is so over-the-top silly, it's hard to stay in it. New characters are introduced in the matter of a couple panels and that's it. There's no attempt to build any interest in them nor tell their back-story; I couldn't care less whether they live or die. They're just plot devices for the remaining handful of characters that have survived the series to this point.

About the Author

After a distinguished career as a social work educator and administrator, Dr. Cox currently teaches as an adjunct lecturer at La Trobe University in Australia. His professional interests have included work in social work and immigration and the experiences of refugees. He has written scores of articles and several books. He was awarded his Ph. D. from La Trobe in 1974.

Manohar Pawar, PhD, is professor of social work at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Charles Sturt University (NSW, Australia) and is also the President of the Asia-Pacific branch of the International Consortium for Social Development. Earlier, he has taught at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and La Trobe University, Melbourne. He has more than 30 years of experience in social work education, research and practice in Australia and India.�

Professor Pawar has received a number of awards, including the ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship located at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, New Delhi (1986–1988); the Citation Award for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (2008, from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council); and Quality of Life Award (2001, from the Association of Commonwealth Universities).�

His current areas of interest include international social work, development and social policy practice, social consequences of cli�mate change and water, social work education, virtues and social work practice, informal care and ageing, NGOs and community devel�opment. He is the lead chief investigator of research funded by the Australian Research Council’s Discovery Project that focuses on virtues and social work practice.

His publications include Social Work Practice Methods: Reflections on Thinking, Doing and Being (2015); Water and Social Policy (2014); International Social Work: Issues, Strategies and Programs (2013); The SAGE Handbook of International Social Work (2012); Social Development: Critical Themes and Perspectives (2010); and Community Development in Asia and the Pacific (2010).

Dr. Batmanghelidj received his formal medical education at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School of London University. He provides for the layman a clear and comprehensive book on the origins of chronic pain. His clinical and scientific research exposes, for the first time, that recurring "chronic pains" are a signal system of the body indicating severe general or local dehydration. Most of these pains can be relieved simply by drinking water. Instead, however, the patient often receives costly pharmaceutical medications which treat rather than cure.

In this book, back pain and rheumatoid joint pain as indicators of local chronic dehydration are explained. The mechanisms involving the important role of water in holding the spinal column together are discussed. Based on years of detailed study of the human anatomy and the science of physiology, Dr. Batmanghelidj has devised a new exercise approach for the successful hydration of the disc core, the retraction of the displaced discs, and immediate relief of pain, even sciatica. These exercises are clearly explained and demonstrated, and may be the only way to save yourself from the surgeon's knife.

This book is unlike any other "how-to" book on the market. It is an instructive presentation about the very simple way of finding comfort and relief from two of the most commonly occurring pains of the body low back pain and rheumatoid joint pain.

Back pain is an enormous problem in this county. Half of Americans have at least one day of back pain a year which interferes with their daily routine, and the average for such back-related incapacity is six days. Over 40 million people over 15% of our population suffer from chronic back pain. The medical costs for treating back pain total $80 billion a year. That is about $9 million an hour, 24 hours a day! Much of the cost is for the 200,000 operations performed annually to remove discs from spinal vertebrae.

I just can't believe the design of the human body is so faulty that some 15% of us should wind up crippled with back pain. I am convinced that our conventional treatment with drugs and surgery is not only NOT helping the problem but is probably making it worse--like swatting flies in a china shop with a baseball bat! Surely there is a simpler, less expensive, less dangerous, more effective approach to this enormous problem, and it is likely sitting there right under our noses.

Well, I may have just found it, and I want to share it with you. Simply put, your back hurts because it is thirsty. In his incredibly easy-to-read book, How to Deal with Back Pain and Rheumatoid Joint Pain, F. Batmanghelidj, M.D., of Falls Church, VA, outlines and convincingly supports a seemingly preposterous theory. He writes that a lot of our back pain, and even rheumatoid pain, is due to an insufficient amount of water, a symptom of chronic dehydration. In the most simplistic terms, our backs hurt because our bodies are thirsty.

Once you understand the mechanics behind your spinal column and how it supports your body, the connection between hydration and back pain is quite straightforward.

FALSE ADVERTISING

[[VIDEOID:mo2ED6WMT2YLHCX]]I stupidly bought one of these books directly from the publisher and they are falsely advertised. THEY ARE NOT COLOR ILLUSTRATIONS INSIDE THE BOOK, they are black and white, not do they clearly state these are outline images for "coloring." When you look at the covers shown, anyone would expect they are color inside. I have emailed the publisher twice for an exchange and they have not written back.

Great Product

This book is great! I am a visual learner so I all the pictures in this book really helped to pull the information together for me. When it came to test time (nursing program) I closed my eyes and was able to visualize the funny pictures in the book and then the answer came to my mind, and therefore was able to choose the correct answer on my exams.

I was a little disappointed to receive it, its all in black and white, the front cover has color but the inside doesn't. It is a thinner book than I expected for the price.

About the Author

Judi Garman is one of the most successful coaches in college softball history, having retired as the nation’s winningest coach in 2000 after coaching for 28 seasons and earning a career record of 1124-416-4(.727) and 7 national championships as a player and coach.

Garman was a Canadian all-star outfielder and member of two Canadian national championship teams. Garman began her coaching career at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California, and won four consecutive national junior college championships from 1975 to 1978. She then established the softball program at California State University at Fullerton in 1980. She built it into one of the most successful softball programs in the United States, winning the Women’s College World Series Championship in 1986 following two runner-up and three third-place finishes. From 2000 to 2002, Garman coached the Italian National Team to a European Championship and a fifth-place finish at the 2002 ISF World Championship.

Garman served as president of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) from 1990 to 1991 and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1993. She resides in Redstone (Aspen), Colorado, and Palm Desert, California.

Michelle Gromacki is the head coach of Cal State Fullerton softball, one of the most prestigious programs in the nation. Under Gromacki’s guidance, the Titans have staked their claim to five Big West Conference championships, including four consecutive conference titles from 2000 to 2003. In 2006,Gromacki was named Regional Coach of the year.

Gromacki served as an assistant coach for the U.S. national team from 2001 to 2004. More recently, she served as assistant coach of the U.S. women’s national team at the 2010 ISF World Championship in Venezuela.

Michelle Gromacki played for Cal State Fullerton and was the catcher on the 1996 national championship team. She continued her playing career with the Redding Rebels and took home three national championship titles in women’s major fastpitch. She was also on the U.S. national team for 10 years. She competed in many international tournaments and won gold medals in all of them.

Gromacki is one of the NFCA college coaches instructors and also conducts speaking engagements all over the world. She resides in Huntington Beach, California.

The best yet

Last year I volunteered to coach my daughter's senior travel softball team.
With travel softball big business and highly competitive here in Long Island (whatever happened to just having fun?) I knew that I would need some expert assistance.
Prior to this I had only coached young kids--3rd and 4th graders--and wanted to obtain some information geared to the high school level.
I bought/glanced through quite a few books and was never really satisfied until finding this one.
Perhaps my mind was already geared to the high school senior level, so I was able to grasp both the basic and advanced methods advocated in this book.
I really liked the sneaky offensive and defensive methods thrown in as well as how to play both the short and long game.
This book really breaks down the general principles, basic guide lines of application and fundamental drills needed to teach all aspects of competitive softball.
It is very well written and has tons of photos/line drawings to illustrate the techniques and drills.
I was so impressed with this book that I tracked down and bought the companion DVD that was produced in 2005.
Which is also a winner, BTW.
To be blunt both the book and the DVD do a great job of making the simple even simpler and the complex understandable.
I rate this book as a must have for senior and travel softball--younger level coaches may find the vast material a bit over whelming at first.
I am sure the author has a ton of additional insights into the game and I would really like to see an advanced sequel--geared to the college coach--in the near future.

Better Than Expected

This book is unreal in the details that are given for every aspect of the game. It breaks down every position and every situation and makes them easy to understand. The drills and descriptions (along with all of the great pictures) make this a priceless coaches aid.

Who loves Astral?

This is a suspenseful story about Astra, her business partner, Emo, and her love interest, Prince Dialle. At the beginning Astra knows that she is a half angel-half demon and she knows Emo is more more demon than angel. Her business is hunting demons and devils. Her sister does not approve because she is a doctor and has to patcher her up quite often.
She meets Prince Dialle on a job. He enjoys talking with he in her head. This is something new to our Astra and she is not happy because he can also give her some very nice feelings this way. She also finds that during a fight with a gargoyle, he helped by telling her, telepathically, ways that would help her become victorious.
This book is chocked full of battles with Astra, Prince Dialle and Emo against gargoyles, princesses, kings, many demons, a few angels, and other creatures.
I could not put this book down from the middle to the end. Between the battles, the sexual innuendos, the magic, and the friendly squabbles, there is no place to set it down. I'm sure you will enjoy this first book and look forward to the next in this series. I received this book for an honest review.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

OMG What a great funny read that had me laughing through most of the book, gotta love a book that does that! Astra Q Phelps is a halfling that gets rid of devils and demons for a living, oh and her partner is a demon himself. When a sexy royal demon gets in her head and she gets pulled into the fight between 2 royal demon families with the angels also making her a part of it the fun really begins.

From Astra using frunkin to how she uses sarcastic humor to deal with the sexy devil even when you think you couldn't laugh because of what's going on you sometimes just have to let out a giggle. I don't normally quote books but this is way too funny to not give a glimpse of what's in store."Oh yea, I was really in it up to my armpits. I was in deep in the poo poo dungeon. I was swimming with the turd sharks in an ocean made of pee." OMG just typing that had me cracking up.

A must read for those who enjoy paranormal. It has it all strong characters, romance of a sorts, adventure, fighting, good vs bad and humor. Highly recommend this!! I received this in exchange for a honest review.

It's official...Halflings have more fun than us.

WOW! I really love where this series is going. I've read quite a bit of Sam Cheever books and while this one was gifted in exchange for a honest review I have to say this one very well could be my favorite.

This book is just fantastic all the way around. You have angels, demons, and halflings and even some really nasty gargoyles. Plus who knew fruit cake was created by demons lol. Thank goodness it wasn't popcorn.

Astra is a great leading female character who is a halfing. Turns out she's more than she seems and learns quite more about her powers. Dialle is just a great character you want to kinda throw fruit cake at times.

Then the cover is just gorgeous on this one. I'm really looking forward to the next one. While technically it doesn't end on a cliffhanger there's still so much more to be told I imagine.
